Explorers are not actually Scout Group based Sections but are independent Units which operate as part of the Scout District.
- Explorers is for young people aged between 14 and 18
- Young People can choose to join any Explorer Unit
- The young people get to develop their skills and maturity
- May include Duke of Edinburgh’s awards in their programme
- Explorers can become Young Leaders and help at younger Sections
- Their are several local Units that young people can choose
The geographic location of 1st Ferring means that while we are proud members of Arundel and Littlehampton Scout District, our closest explorer Unit is a Worthing District one. We have strong links with Excelsior and Nomads but young people can attend whichever one works best for them:
- Excelsior and Nomads is a Worthing District Unit which meets on a Wednesday between 8 and 10pm (they often meet at our hut).
- Vikings is a unit within Arundel and Littlehampton District and meet at East Preston hut on a Monday Night
- Centurion meet at Arundel
- Peregrine Explorers meet at 1st Yapton and Ford Scout Hut
